Midwife Memories

It's all getting exciting. The stories are building up and memories are being told at a fine pace. I am remembering things long forgotten and the lovely Charlotte seems to like listening! Last evening I met with Tina, Joan, Cheryle and Pam and we reminisced about long gone days at Bramley Meade. The best years, we all agreed. I was born as a midwife at BM. So much more to tell...will it ever be finished?

Mothers Day

Daffodils

Lovely wake up on this day with little Seamus, and Anna. Hugs together and exchanging gifts. Meaningful words....Olivia and Archie arrived mid-morning and then off to meet third born, Tom. Lunch was delicious, peaceful chats with this uncomplicated young man and we didn't need to pay! Such a treat. Then off to visit those who couldn't share the day with us. Whispers to Kathleen and Rose Marie  that they were missed and loved still. Mothers, what would we really do without them? We do, but we don't.

Happy Mothers Day.

The Girl Effect

I would like to develop a film about the lack of improvement in maternal mortality globally (a Millennium Development Goal) www.un.org/millenniumgoals/maternal.shtml and the need for respectful maternity care both in third world and developed countries. The messages need to be clear and simple, I do like how this is done  in the Girl Effect project.  http://www.girleffect.org/video

The film would be used and distributed globally via the internet and would help the message to be heard....

A proposition...

What a day to start this blog. I heard some exciting news, via email...about two hours ago. The publishing company, Headline, want to publish my memoirs as a midwife.....what an opportunity! For the most part, to log my career professionally is more than I could ever hope for, for me to reflect on it all, but mainly for my children's children to read (if they want to).....it feels quite bizarre. The book will be a biography.... similar to Call the Midwife, hmmmm

So now to think about the stories, tales and events from four decades. Such a lot to remember!
